When logging into squirrelmail on a cpanel server, I received the following error:
ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server
To fix this:
chown -R USERNAME:mail /home/USERNAME/mail/
chown -R USERNAME:mail /homeUSERNAME//etc/
Where USERNAME is his cPanel username
